Who is Spirit Yarn?

Spirit Yarn is a family-run small business located in High Point, NC. Our mission is to help crafters of all ages—beginners and experienced alike—bring out their team, school, holiday, and patriotic spirit with our vibrant yarn colors. We want to be your go-to shop for yarn in shades that let you Show Your Spirit! After researching hard to find certain colors, we custom ordered over a dozen unique shades that aren't available anywhere else in the U.S.

How did the concept come to us?

In the fall of 2021, I was on the hunt for East Carolina University colors in chunky chenille yarn to make my niece, who attends ECU, a handmade chunky blanket for Christmas. I was a bit disappointed when I couldn’t find the exact colors, so I ended up choosing darker shades. Over the following months, I realized that many of the team and school colors I wanted to use for blanket projects were impossible to find. I saw on Facebook that many other crafters were facing the same challenges.

My husband and I have always dreamed of starting our own business, but we couldn’t quite decide what it should be until Spirit Yarn. We partnered with the manufacturer to custom-dye colors that are standard in sports and schools, but not yet available to crafters in chunky chenille. We are constantly reviewing colors and removing poor performers in favor of new ones.

We finally found a way to turn our business dream into reality — all while helping others Show Your Spirit!
 

Why just one style of yarn?

As a small business, we had to figure out which need was the most important before expanding our product line. In 2026, we're looking to add yarn from DK (3 weight) up to chunky 6 weight, along with accessories to help new crafters and makers get started. We're also chatting about adding scissors, stitch markers, measuring tapes, and more.
